Otherness

I spotted a very interesting new jewellery brand, called Otherness. The designer of the brand is Chrissie Pepels, she's still a student at the art academy of Maastricht, but already very business minded. She make's pret-a-porter pieces and haute couture pieces as well. The odd, but also very nice thing about this jewellery designer is that she uses real insects, for her designs! 

But also mixes geometric modern forms with them.

I'm curious were her brand is going to take her and what other reactions will be.

For now I can say that I can't wait to wear some of her designs!

Tavi Thinking

Lately I’m all about trying to think in a very Tavi Gevinson-way, literally! I knew her a little bit before, from her blog Stylerookie off course. But now I’m researching her world and her thoughts very closely, wooww she is so smart and interesting!
But back to the Tavi-thinking, why do we walk and not just roll on skate’s? and than off course in one of her favourite style’s al 70/80’s like. I can imagine it would be so fun to try it as a challenge, one day no walking and online roller skating?!
Is that possible when you have to take the train? Or by bike? Maybe you’l come to the conclusion that live is way more fun rolling than actually walking :)!

Outfit of the day

Today time for a late outfit of the day. A bit of a difficult day outfit wise, because of the strange warm/cold weather. In that case layering is always a good idea. But I learned that black may be not a very smart choice, while sitting in the sun at school. So fun to see what a little bit of sun does with people, everyone looks better and like they found a bit of their childly happiness back.

At the moment I'm so much into wrap skirts, specially with this great weather this weekend. 

I really can't wait until it is warm and sunny again so I can wear one of these. 

My favourite is the asymmetrical black one from topshop (especially with black loafers combined with it!).

Dummy ?!

A dummy.

From all the people that are on my art academy, the most personal thing you could ask for is their dummy. Yes it will look different for every one, some may be small, others may have several ones. Some people like to make them messy and looking like the are 80 years old and have taken a shower. While others make them as need and pretty as a plate of food in a fancy restaurant.This is one of my dummy's. But what is it actually? You could think of a dummy as a visual diary, that captures all your brilliant and wild ideas, that you have for an art project. Also a lot of people like to capture their working process and use it to structure their thinking. Also it could be just a visualisation of your creative part of your brain and because your thoughts are private it quint of feels like a diary. One of the things I love to do is look at other people’s dummy’s because of this, it’s like you get to know someone with out talking to them.Although I understand so well that it is scary, that other people can see whats inside you and what lives in your head so easily. By just opening and looking at a booklet.But when time goes by and you’l go trough some dummy’s, I don’t know why but it makes me smile looking at them all pretty and well grown, lying on a pile. 

Cat people magazine

Cat people is a magazine featuring interviews and work by cat-obsessed artists, designers, photographers and writers. Although I’m so not a cat person,I have to confess I really like this magazine.

There is something so entertaining about Cat people magazine, I guess it must be that it has a very unique point off view and you can really feel and relate to the passion the makers are sharing. 

So If you would like to read a different and still very stylish magazine for a change, you should check out this magazine at Atheneum book centre. 

Mirror, mirror on the wall..

Normally, I’m pretty basic, as it comes to make up. 

Sometimes I like to give my lips a pop of color, but thats pretty much it.

Although a view years ago I used to be very much into painting my nails and trying out new colors. When I saw the Opi Push and Shove nail polish, with its promising mirror-chrome like finish I thought “ hmm.. maybe this can be a way to turn my nail polish into some kind of new accessory?!”.

Yes it is not a replacement for a mirror. But still, it matches a lot off colors and stays surprisingly long on my nails. 

Showing some love to your feet

Throughout the years I have lived a lot of hours ( almost days sometimes) in heels. Although in the end my feet always hurt, I loved it. I love the sound it makes on the floor, how it makes you walk more elegant and enjoy a moment, like walking 5 steps to turn in your English test, that you would have otherwise. And the most important, I like to believe that in those insecure teenage years and scary moments I needed my heels, I know it may sound stupid but the really would give me some more self confidence and helpt me to get trough those scary moments and difficult tests.

So of course you have to give something back to your feed sometimes. And the way I'd like to do that is by treating them with a nice and rich foodcreme like this one from l'Occitane. And put them in my cosy warm socks from COS. 

After this simple treatment your feet are ready to do their jobs in heels again.

Just going for it

I bought this dress accidentally at the vintage per kilo sale. But lately I found a way to make it more my own. Being around so many daring and inspiring people at my art academy inspires me a lot and makes me dare different things like this easier. Just go for it, fashion is all about having fun.

Wish List

This are some of my favorite things on my wish list for the moment.

Especially the lime crime lipstick and the stockings. I've been obsessed with this lilac/purple color for about a week now, when I saw the stockings in the weekday store. 

But I haven't been able to get my hands on any of them, hopefully this week there will be a change :).
